YOU... YES, YOU... Your words have power, tremendous power... more power than any man made weapon, and in many instances, the words we speak comes from the thoughts we think. The driving force of words whether spoken, thought or written are continuously propelling us through life.
"So mote it be" is a ritual phrase used by Freemasons, in Rosicrucianism, and more recently by Neopagans. It means "so may it be", "so it is required" or "so must it be", and may be said at the end of a prayer in a similar way to "amen".
Can we end a magical working with “so mote it be” and say it with the confidence of a pharaoh issuing a command?
If we are going to live our lives our way and not as popular culture says we must, at some point we have to stand up and say “this is what I want. This is how I will live. This I value and that I do not.”
So let’s break it down… As I will it… Who is “I”? The ego self or Higher self? Are you aligned with Source? and What is “Will”? The ego’s will or your Will in divine form, etc. So mote it be…. So be it. Do you truly believe it?
"So mote it be" is an affirmation. Magick is all about direction of will and closing with "so mote it be" is a good way to be willful. Ending a spell or prayer with something like this is actually very common.
Below is a special consciousness talk I recently did on the subject. Enjoy!
