Metamorphosis, transcendence to a new state of being
SOME FACTS and MEANINGS:
• A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the Sun and the Earth causing the Sun to be fully or partially obscured by the Moon, as seen from Earth. This happens only during the New Moon.
• Eclipses always take place during the New Moon when the Sun and the Moon are in the same sign. Together in the sky, their energies are combined and supercharged for the energy of that sign.
• The solar eclipse on Monday August 21, 2017 is at 29° Leo.
• An eclipse gives us the energy of an entire cycle of seasons, or cycle of a day from twilight, darkness, dawn to light, from the waning light of autumn to the darkness of winter, to the growing light of spring and brightness of summer. This is powerful energy to harness to bring about big change quickly.
• The moon engulfs the sun, turning the sky bloody, but the sun emerges again in a symbol of rebirth. This makes an equinox a great time practice rites designed to wash away the old to make way for the new, to break down barriers to come out into the light.
• During the eclipse a witch will face his/her insecurity, you must not only be able to imagine that a change can occur and what will this change bring but you must also have the willpower to proclaim: “I am ready and perfectly prepared for this change and I will make it happen”.
• Leo is about what your heart is telling you to do. It’s time to harness Will with Heart and it’s time to be courageous in taking a stand whatever your belief.
Preparing the Mind:
In the next few days leading up to the Eclipse, you will imagine how a solar eclipse works by imagining the following narrative.
Imagine yourself as a caterpillar that has willingly entered in its cocoon of contemplation. Remember your old self (specifically the last 18 years cycle since a Leo Aquarius eclipse), the thoughts you made and the actions that these thoughts have led you to take.
You have all the ideas about yourself who you want to be and what you want to do with your future. All these ideas and thoughts-the past, present and future- coexist during this stage.
The solar eclipse magic will give you and our planet the power to break this cocoon and will give you the boost to completely transform into a new form, the butterfly.
Hence, the Solar Eclipse magic is the perfect timing for a Metamorphosis, transcendence to a new state of being. Cutting down all the restraints that were bounding you to the ground and give you the breeze to flip your wings and fly and explore the world with a new set of wise eyes.
A Solar eclipse is often described in alchemic and occult texts as the Alchemical Wedding where the Sun marries the Moon, a perfect balance.
Start by writing down 20 insecurities you have about yourself. (Be honest, no one is going to see this. And yes we all have at least 20. Take your time.)

Now think about our world over the last 18 years… Write down 20 insecurities you feel the world is facing as a whole.

Now reviewing each of these insecurities (yours and the worlds) write down the opposite meaning or solution for each of the insecurities.

Now, paring it down to create a central focus, combine the two lists, removing any duplicate or similar meanings. (Ex. Financial security and prosperity.) You’re going to bring it down to 10 this time so you may need to combine the energies of each to generate another. ( EX. self-confidence + social harmony = ??? OR nice home + greener planet = lush beautiful surroundings everywhere. Etc.)

One last time: Let’s do the same and bring it down to 5 words…. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
DAY OF ECLIPSE:
Wear bold bright colors, yellows, gold, red, orange or even white.
Read your list of 5 words.
Sense how each makes you feel, one at a time.
Allow yourself to see it in action in your personal space and the world around you.
Read your 5 words again and begin to create a chant/mantra out of it. (Have fun with this…sing, chant it, make it limerick, etc.)
EX. Peace, enlightened, loving, prosperous, kind (“A peace filled and loving, kind and prosperous, enlightened world around me”.)
NOW about 30 minutes before the “apex” of the eclipse in your area create a special place for your “transition”. Place flowers candles, crystals, burn incense…whatever makes the area feel sacred to you. Bring your lists and chant into the space.
Imagine yourself in a cocoon and Review your “old self/world” list and sense how it no longer serves you or humanity as a whole. Imagine the feelings, insecurities, visions, etc. beginning to transform in the cocoon into the new energies.
Read your “new” chant/mantra and feel how the vibrations and energies are changing and transforming.
Continue to chant aloud for several minutes leading to the apex of the eclipse. (Keep a timer or clock nearby to see.)
At the moment of the apex, stand up, spread your arms (as if you are a butterfly freeing itself from the cocoon.) and shout out the mantra with full power and energy. Sense the energy spreading around you and your home and like a wave going around the entire planet.
“Bathe” in the new energy around you and the planet for a few moments (as long as you feel) and when you are ready say aloud. It is done, it is done, it is done. So mote it be.
Thank your higher self, higher power or any specific guides or elementals you work with. Ask them to continue to aid you in living in this new world and go outside and (if you aren’t already.) and take in the new rays of the Sun as it’s light grows.
